Oman and the United States are exploring ways to bolster their economic and investment cooperation, focusing on expanding trade, supporting Omani exports, and attracting American investment. This was a key topic of discussion during a recent meeting between Oman’s Minister of Economy, Dr. Khamis Saif Al Jabri, and representatives from the Oman Trade Office in the United States.
The discussions aimed to assess the achievements of the Oman Trade Office, plan future activities, and identify challenges and opportunities to enhance economic ties between the two nations. Central to these discussions was the goal of increasing access for Omani products in the US market while simultaneously encouraging more American investments in Oman.
Bilateral trade between Oman and the United States has been significant, with the total trade volume reaching approximately OMR 555.26 million by the end of July 2023. Omani exports to the US primarily include chemicals and aluminum, while the United States exports vehicles and transport equipment to Oman.
Both countries are keen on developing new areas of trade cooperation, which could potentially lead to increased economic benefits on both sides. The focus on strengthening trade relations is seen as a strategic move to enhance economic growth and diversification for Oman while providing new markets and investment opportunities for US businesses.
