US-Jordan Trade Agreement Boosts Tech Innovation and Economic Collaboration

The United States and Jordan have unveiled a trade agreement designed to bolster economic collaboration, dismantle trade barriers, and create fresh business opportunities for enterprises in both nations. The agreement ensures that Jordan continues to offer duty-free access to the majority of American goods entering its market, while both countries commit to addressing logistical and trade challenges to enhance commercial exchanges.

According to US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, this agreement underscores President Donald Trump’s initiative to intensify economic and strategic alliances in the Middle East, while also carving out new marketplaces for American exporters. Jordan’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Yarub Qudah, highlighted that Jordanian exports to the United States would incur a 10 percent tariff, whereas American exports to Jordan will continue to benefit from exemption under the current free-trade agreement. The deal is anticipated to stimulate investment between the two nations.

The US and Jordan initially signed a free-trade agreement in 2001, marking Jordan as the first Arab nation to forge such a relationship with Washington. By 2010, all duties under that agreement were removed, laying a foundation for robust trade interactions. Trade between the two countries was reported at $5.34 billion in 2025, based on US government statistics.

Jordan’s key exports comprise chemicals, garments, mineral products, and precious stones. Its primary import partners include China, Saudi Arabia, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates. The continued partnership and recent agreement are expected to further integrate Jordan into the global trade network, enhancing its economic footprint while providing American companies with expanded access to Middle Eastern markets.
