Oman, UK Explore Tech Solutions for Regional Conflict, Maritime Security in Manila

In a significant diplomatic engagement, Oman’s Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, held discussions with UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband in the city of Manila. The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral relations, addressing regional security concerns, and exploring diplomatic avenues to mitigate tensions in the Middle East.

During their talks, the ministers examined the potential to bolster the enduring strategic partnership between Oman and the United Kingdom. They highlighted the need to expand cooperation across various sectors of mutual interest, underscoring the importance of their collaborative relationship.

A critical element of their dialogue was the ongoing regional conflict, where both leaders stressed the urgency of establishing a ceasefire. They advocated for the resumption of peace negotiations through diplomatic means, emphasizing diplomacy as the preferred path to stability.

Furthermore, the discussions included vital deliberations on ensuring the safety and freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. Both sides concurred on the necessity of adhering to international law to maintain secure passage in this strategically significant maritime corridor.
