Oman’s commitment to embracing sustainable transportation has been further reinforced with the conclusion of the third edition of the “Electric Vehicle Experts” (EV-Pro) programme. This initiative, running from July 19 to August 27, gathered 35 university and college students from across the country to delve into the intricacies of electric vehicle technologies and sustainable transport solutions.
Participants in the programme received comprehensive training that encompassed various aspects of electric vehicles, including charging infrastructure, network planning, and vehicle maintenance and operations. The curriculum was designed to highlight the economic advantages of electric vehicles and their potential role in mitigating greenhouse gas emissions, aligning with global environmental goals.
Workshops held during the programme addressed key environmental challenges and sustainability principles. The sessions also linked these topics to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, thereby providing participants with a broader perspective on sustainability issues. In addition, the programme encouraged the development of practical solutions tailored to meet local environmental needs, fostering innovation and problem-solving skills among the young participants.
This initiative forms a part of Oman’s broader strategy to promote sustainable transportation, with an ambitious aim of achieving carbon neutrality by the year 2050. By equipping the youth with the necessary skills and knowledge, Oman is preparing a new generation of experts poised to contribute significantly to the nation’s environmental and technological advancements.
