Oman Strengthens Global Economic Ties at World Free Zones Conference in China

The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (Opaz), took part in the World Free Zones Conference held in Haikou, China. The 11th global meeting, themed “Zones: Gateways to Global Prosperity, Trade, and Sustainable Innovation,” focused on the future of free zones in promoting global trade and sustainable growth.

Led by Sheikh Dr. Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidy, Chairman of Opaz, the Omani delegation highlighted the nation’s advancements in renewable energy, green industries, and logistics. Al Sunaidy emphasized the significance of digital transformation, clean energy adoption, and integration between ports and economic zones as key drivers of long-term sustainable development.

Oman’s investments in its 15 special economic and free zones have reached $54 billion by the end of 2024, reflecting growing investor confidence. The delegation also held meetings with global counterparts and companies exploring opportunities in medical, pharmaceutical, and green energy sectors, showcasing Oman’s attractive incentives and investor-friendly policies.
