Oman has underscored its commitment to resolving international disputes through dialogue and diplomacy, as articulated by Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi at the 81st United Nations General Assembly. Al Busaidi emphasized the importance of dialogue in building trust, resolving differences, and addressing global crises while maintaining respect for national sovereignty and international law.
Highlighting regional security concerns, Oman expressed its apprehension over conflicts affecting the Strait of Hormuz, a vital passage for global trade and energy supplies. Al Busaidi reaffirmed Oman’s dedication to ensuring safe and free navigation in the strait, in line with international law and the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. He urged all parties involved to exercise restraint and pursue peaceful resolutions through political negotiations.
In addressing the crisis in Yemen, Oman reiterated its support for a political settlement that upholds Yemen’s unity, stability, and territorial integrity. Al Busaidi called for cooperation among all parties to protect the rights and dignity of the Yemeni people, contributing to the nation’s reconstruction and development.
Oman also expressed strong support for Palestinian rights, condemning ongoing Israeli actions in the region. The country reaffirmed its backing for a Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, in accordance with the two-state solution and relevant United Nations resolutions. Moreover, Oman highlighted its efforts to promote tolerance and counter hate speech, notably through the Muscat Plan and collaborations with the UN.
In line with its commitment to sustainable development, Oman remains focused on its Vision 2040, which prioritizes renewable energy, sustainable transport, and green industries. The nation aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, as part of its broader environmental and economic goals.
