India successfully retained their Asian Games men’s cricket title with a 19-run victory over Pakistan in a thrilling final held at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, Japan. This victory secured another gold medal for the Indian team in the T20 format.
Batting first, India set a formidable target by scoring 211/6. The team got off to a strong start thanks to Abhishek Sharma, who delivered a rapid half-century, leading India to 81/2 during the Powerplay — their highest ever against Pakistan in T20Is. Despite a mid-innings slowdown caused by effective bowling from Pakistan’s Arafat Minhas, Ahmed Daniyal, and Abrar Ahmed, India regained momentum with a late surge. Tilak Varma was instrumental in this phase, scoring an unbeaten 51 off 22 balls. His effective partnership with Shivam Dube, who added 27 runs, helped India cross the 200-run mark.
Chasing 212, Pakistan responded vigorously, spearheaded by Hasan Nawaz. However, the Indian bowlers managed to regain control of the game.
