Kuwait and Iraq have taken a significant step towards resolving long-standing bilateral issues by forming a joint working team. The decision was made during a meeting between Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al Hamad Al Sabah and Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al Zaidi, held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The newly established team is tasked with reviewing unresolved matters between the two nations, developing a comprehensive roadmap for resolution, and submitting their recommendations to the leadership of both countries within 30 days. This cooperative effort aims to not only address outstanding issues but also to reinforce the partnership between Kuwait and Iraq.
The joint team will convene alternately in Kuwait and Baghdad, continuing their efforts until their mandate is fulfilled. Both leaders expressed their support for the initiative, underscoring their commitment to enhancing cooperation and fostering a stronger bilateral relationship.
The move is seen as a positive development in Kuwait-Iraq relations, with both sides showing a willingness to work through challenges and strengthen ties. By setting a structured timeline and involving leadership from both countries, the initiative reflects a dedicated approach to achieving tangible outcomes.
As both nations embark on this collaborative path, the international community will be watching closely, hopeful that this effort will lead to lasting resolutions and a deeper partnership between the neighboring countries.
