In a recent diplomatic initiative, Pakistan and Iran have reported making considerable headway in discussions to ease tensions and rejuvenate efforts towards a negotiated resolution of the conflict involving Iran. High-level meetings took place in Tehran where Pakistan’s top military leader, Field Marshal Asim Munir, along with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, engaged in talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and other senior Iranian officials.

The discussions were centered on crucial issues such as preventing the further escalation of hostilities and reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a key maritime chokepoint.
