Tim Cook, now serving as Apple’s executive chair, has been awarded a compensation package valued at approximately $47 million. This package includes a base salary of $2 million along with $45 million in company shares. Notably, half of these shares are contingent upon meeting specific performance targets, while the rest will vest over the next four years.
Cook transitioned from his role as Apple’s chief executive officer, a position he handed over to John Ternus. Ternus, who previously led Apple’s hardware engineering division, will receive a base salary of $3 million. In addition, his compensation package includes a $55 million stock award, with a significant portion linked to performance criteria.
During his time as CEO, Cook’s compensation exceeded $74 million in 2025, a period marked by significant growth for Apple. Under his leadership, the company’s market valuation soared to approximately $4.7 trillion, underscoring the financial success achieved during his tenure.
In his new role as executive chair, Cook’s responsibilities will concentrate on managing Apple’s external affairs. This includes cultivating the company’s relationships with governments and policymakers, as well as strengthening connections in key international markets.
Meanwhile, Ternus steps into the role of CEO with the mandate to oversee Apple’s product strategy and operational management. With a solid background in hardware engineering, he is now tasked with steering the company’s ongoing innovation and market presence.
